Brought to you by the staff and faculty of Acacia Academy as we explore the roots of Classical Education and Acacia's mission to cultivate character, faith, and knowledge.

In everything it does, Acacia Academy seeks to be a Classical Christian school. Classical Christian education is a multi-faceted approach to learning that aims to cultivate and nurture every aspect of the human person so that students are increasingly conformed to Jesus Christ in thought, word, and deed. As a result of this learning, students are better enabled to realize the goals that God has for them both as individuals and as members of families, churches, and communities. We, the staff of Acacia, are thus not only interested in imparting theoretical knowledge and useful skills, but also in inculcating virtues, attitudes, and affections that will allow our students to flourish, serve God, and be a gift to those around them in all areas of life. In what follows, today and in weeks to come, a member of our faculty will share their personal reflections on one particular aspect of the learning and formation that we as a team seek to instill.”

Spring 2023

Our 2022-2023 theme of the year is “Transformed”. The seven areas of transformation listed in the graph here will be the focus of the Spring 2023 series of Deeply Rooted.

SOCIAL | SP2023 Issue #11

“Be curious together. Show your children what it looks like to be a lifelong learner by living it in front of them. Celebrate wonder, encourage curiosity, love life, enjoy your summer!”

SPIRITUAL | SP2023 Issue #10

"Yet lest we find academics and the intellectual realm the only place for spiritual formation, we would be remiss to discount the sacred role of belonging and friendship integral to education. We become saints together.”

AESTHETIC | SP2023 Issue #9

“A virtuous transformation takes place as students attain a sense of wonder, awe, and fascination through music that reveals God's truth, goodness, and beauty.”

MORAL | SP2023 Issue #8

"We work together throughout the years to promote in students the habits of attention, obedience, respect, responsibility, reverence, reflection, thoroughness, punctuality, service, self-control, integrity, and reconciliation.”

PHYSICAL | SP2023 Issue #7

“At Acacia, we stay rooted in a whole created person—not just spiritual or practical or intellectual, but physical—present and embodied Creation.”

PRACTICAL | SP2023 Issue #6

"The best and most important part of [Acacia Academy's] curriculum is teaching habits, and training the appetite for what is true, good, and beautiful."

AESTHETIC | SP2023 Issue #5

"In learning about art, more important than any artistic skill that can be taught, is the understanding that by being created in God’s image, we all have an innate creativity and ability to create beauty."

SOCIAL | SP2023 Issue #4

"We want [our students] to be mirrors that reflect the love they have been shown to others, and pass on the love that we ourselves have abundantly received from the Lord and our family and friends."

MORAL | SP2023 Issue #3

“The continual pursuit of the knowledge and wisdom of God through the study and memorization of Scripture gives the student the needed knowledge, wisdom, and skills for avoiding destructive vices and habits, and living a life of confidence and purpose.”
Featuring Mrs. Judy Weirauch

SPIRITUAL | SP2023 Issue #2

“Spirituality does not merely impact our lives, it is the canvas upon which all else is painted. In short, all matters are ‘spiritual’ matters.”
Featuring Mr. David Pollard

INTELLECTUAL | SP2023 Issue #1

“As we walk alongside our children, we will be helping them to value what is precious and to stay focused on what is worth pursuing – a life rich in ideas that have spiritual truth, innate goodness, and objective beauty.”
Featuring Mrs. Joan White
